How it all began.

What happens when a multi-award-winning seasoned leader, known for building high-performing teams and thriving work cultures, is trapped in the very toxicity he’s always worked to prevent?

After three decades of leading positive change and building global high-performing sales and marketing teams, our Founder, Nigel Kilpatrick reached a breaking point: two back-to-back global senior leadership roles in deeply toxic environments. Despite his experience and values, he found himself trapped in a fear-driven system he couldn’t shift from within. That realisation marked the beginning of a much deeper journey — one that would transform his life from the inside out.

During a period of soul-searching and deep reflection, Nigel became a student of A Course in Miracles. Its teachings — rooted in forgiveness, love over fear, and the power of perception — changed everything. They became the foundation of his leadership philosophy and the guiding light for what would come next.

He joined the international leadership team of a global tech company whose culture, values and principles were deeply aligned to his own and where he introduced a compassionate operating model grounded in spiritual principles. At a time of extreme uncertainty — during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic — this model enabled sustained business growth, resilient teams, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Then, in 2024, life delivered another defining moment: Nigel was diagnosed with two forms of incurable cancer — advanced Prostate Cancer and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Instead of succumbing to fear, he leaned into compassion. His first day of intense radiation therapy  also marked his first day working for one of Europe's fastest gowing Management Consulting firms, Pace XL (www.pace-xl.com) - more about his positive expriences at Pace are in his new book, 'The 10 Traits of a Compassionate Leader". Through this experience, he discovered an even deeper resilience, clarity, open-mindedness, and gentleness—qualities that now shape not only how he lives, but what he teaches. These are the foundations he shares with the next generation of people managers and leaders, showing them that true strength is found not in control or dominance, but in conscious, compassionate presence.

Today, Nigel leads Compassion in Business— helping organisations shift away from toxic leadership and towards something profoundly different. He also founded Champions of Compassion, a free global movement uniting people who believe there is a better way to lead—one rooted not in fear but in empathy, authenticity, and love.
